About the NRHA


North Reading Housing Authority has been established, in accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 121B. Our primary purpose is to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing to families, and elderly [and/or disabled persons] of low income at rentals which they can afford until such time as there is no longer a need. (See MGL, c. 121B, S. 3)

The North Reading Housing Authority will operate in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations to carry out the spirit and intent of the Massachusetts Housing Act (MGL, c.121B), and the 1937 Federal Housing Act insofar as they shall apply.

The mission of North Reading Housing Authority (NRHA) is to meet our community’s housing needs by providing decent, safe and affordable housing through the administration of appropriate local, state and federal housing programs. It is our goal to promote self-sufficiency, personal growth and neighborhood revitalization by maximizing our resources and maintaining the fiscal integrity of this agency. It is NRHA’s belief that housing is a basic right and the substance for a successful life. The NRHA recognizes the importance of professional, compassionate and dedicated staff to meeting the needs of diverse populations. Together with the support of the Board of Commissioners, employees, residents and community members, the NRHA will strive to assist everyone in securing affordable housing and an environment in which they can continue to be valuable members of the community.
